Going to be my go to date night spot in Columbus.  Gorgeous establishment, fun decor and atmosphere with a unique menu and take on their drinks.  I love the menu and variety.  Their whiskey and selection is good, several whistle pig and high end options.

They have an odd location but definitely worth the stop.  We ordered the fingerling potatoes amd they were BOMB. Loved them, and Im sure the rest of the menu compares.

Their inhouse distilled products are solid. They have a premixed old fashioned option that you pour over ice and garnish and its good to be served.

Highly recommended coming for a fun drink and nice date.

    Expensive, and not that impressed.

I see the reviews and have heard people talk about how great this place is, but after our visit we were both wondering what all the hype is about.  Did we forget to order that one special item that would have made our taste buds dance?

We made reservations online and made note that we were celebrating our Anniversary.  We received 2 glasses of complimentary champagne which I that was a nice gesture.

We were given a brief run down of the menu.  There are 3 sections; I, II and III.  Section 1 is snacks, 2 is appetizers and 3 is main meal.  We were trying to decide on the chefs tasting or just ordering meals.

    Order:
    S, I -
Pickledlies $4 - dill pickle, cream cheese, country ham
    S, II -
Buttermilk fried chicken $13 - whipped pig butter, house hot sauce, pickles.

Hay-smoked baby backs $17 - grilled pork ribs, five spice bbq, sesame seed, pickled shallot, herbed creme.

The pickeldillies comes with 3 very small, bit sized pieces.  They were pretty tasty and too easy to eat.
We ended up ordering a 2nd plate.

When the food arrived we were surprised at how small the portions were.  Section II is appetizers but there is no way you could share that with the whole table.  Maybe these are considered personal appetizers?  Also who orders fried chicken and ribs as an appetizer?  That was a little misleading.

The chicken was pretty good. It came with 2 small pieces of dark meat (1 leg, 1 thigh). the hot sauce was not any good.

The ribs were ok, there wasn't much meat on them and some didn't have much meat at all.  The sesame seeds seemed odd, and so did the burning hay in the pan, and only added to the odd factor.

The evening lacked that wow factor that one should receive when spending this level of money.  We were not impressed overall with the taste, portion size and the cost.

Over all we were not impressed.

What's the hype? Maybe it's the cocktails that make Watershed a five star experience, because it's not the overpriced food.

The food was good, but I wasn't blown away. We really enjoyed the pickledillies, but they were so small that we ordered a second round right away. They should consider modifying the portion and price since this is by far the least expensive "snack" from section 1.

The waiter told us the only thing he wouldn't order was the burger, even though it's good, just because you don't go to a place like this for a burger. He indicated that the rest of the menu is fantastic. We thought about doing the chef's special, but decided it would be too much food.

So I got the fried chicken and my husband ordered the ribs. I was reading the menu and having trouble deciding what I wanted because nothing was jumping out at me. A lot of the descriptions included unfamiliar items, so it was hard to know what to expect. At one point I got on yelp to see if any pictures would appeal to me more than the descriptions, but not really. I settled for a classic: fried chicken. It came out fresh and very hot! So hot I couldn't pick it up to eat it. It came with two small pieces of dark meat, a tiny piece of toast underneath, and some pickles and hot sauce. The chicken was juicy and tender once I was able to get into it. The pig butter on top was weird so I let it just slide off, and I didn't try the hot sauce.

I was also able to try the ribs. The hay-smoked scent was odd, and to me, didn't add anything to the dish. The sauce on the ribs was tasty, but the meat was hard to get to. I prefer rib meat that falls off the bones, because otherwise it's just too much work. The sesame seeds on them didn't really fit for me, and the herbed Creme sauce that came with them just added to the odd flavor combination.

Maybe we would have been more satisfied ordering from the number three section which is more of the entree section. I'll admit both of our dishes were from the twos, which the waiter described as appetizers. These are not appetizers to share around the table, and at face value, they just didn't live up to the hype. I got plenty to eat, I just didn't think it was out of the park like you'd expect from the price.

The complementary champagne for our anniversary was a nice touch.

After a distillery tour we stopped inside the restaurant for a cocktail. I loved the look and feel of the restaurant. I had the summer punch to drink. It was A little too lemon/limey for my liking but not bad. My husband had the sundae bar minus the alcohol since he was driving. I'm sure his would taste just as good with alcohol. The food menu looks really good so I definitely want to come back for that.

This place was terrific! The staff was super friendly, the food looked great (we only ordered drinks), and the rotating menu is very fun and creative. We went over the summer when the theme was yard sale and we can't wait to go back!
